Eurotunnel: Travel to France re-opens for cars and trucks
In accordance with British and French government protocols, traffic moving from the UK to France via Eurotunnel’s Shuttle services has restarted progressively overnight. The first passengers travelling from Folkestone arrived in France this morning at 02:32, carrying their negative COVID 19 test certificate and about 700 cars have been able to cross since this morning. Since 07:00 this morning Eurotunnel staff have been ready to welcome trucks parked in Kent just as soon as their drivers had obtained a negative test. Around twenty trucks and 50 vans have already crossed since this morning and, since 16:00, a steady flow of trucks has been arriving at the Folkestone terminal..
“Eurotunnel staff have worked incredibly hard since Sunday in extremely difficult circumstances” said Yann Leriche, CEO of Getlink. “We are ready since this morning to welcome back our customers following new process put in place by the authorities. Now, more than ever, Eurotunnel is the Vital Link between the UK and continental Europe”.
