EUROTUNNEL APPOINTS NEW DIRECTOR, FREIGHT DIVISION
Eurotunnel, operator of the Channel Tunnel, has appointed Dirk Broek as its new Director, Freight Division. He will oversee all commercial activities for both the Eurotunnel Truck Shuttle business and rail freight commercial operations. Mr Broek (40) is a Dutch national and will join Eurotunnel on 1 June 2004. He is fluent in German, French and English.
Mr Broek joins Eurotunnel from intermodal rail operator, Conliner, where he was managing director. He has extensive experience in the international freight business, including pan-European truck operations, intermodal and conventional rail freight, and container shipping. He has previously worked in senior management positions with American President Line, SBB Cargo, Intercontainer Interfrigo, and Royal Nedlloyd Group.
Dirk Broek was educated in Holland and the USA and holds a Master of Law degree from the Erasmus University, Rotterdam. He will be a member of Eurotunnel's senior management team and will report to chief executive, Jean-Louis Raymond.
Following the appointment in February of Daniel Spinath as Director, Passenger Division, and Dirk Broekâs appointment as Director, Freight Division, Bill Dix will be leaving Eurotunnel on 31 May 2004. Bill joined Eurotunnel in October 1995 and has successfully led the Shuttle business to the market dominant position that it enjoys today.
